Shirley Sue Walls (Smith) passed away on September 14, 2021, at Norton’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Shirley was born on August 26, 1934, in Vincennes, Indiana to Eugene Arthur and Allegra Fern Smith (Borden).

Shirley was a 1952 graduate of Lincoln High School. She married the late Max Hadley Kimmel and together they had three children, Deborah, Mark, and Karen. She was a homemaker for many years of her life, and she raised her children until they were in school. Shirley was remarried to Charles Walls and together they had a son, David. She was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Vincennes, Indiana. Shirley loved to be around her family. She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren any time she could. In her free time, she also enjoyed to crotchet.

Survivors of Shirley include her children, Mark Kimmel and his wife Anne of Greenville, IN, Karen Robling and her husband Brian of Jasper, IN, and David Walls of Ft. Pierce, FL; grandchildren, Erik Robling, Danielle Schulthies, Mason Kimmel, and Meredith Lissegardh; 6 great grandchildren; sister Betty Ruth Baker, and brother Charlie Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Max Hadley Kimmel, her second husband Charles Walls, daughter Deborah Sue Kimmel, and her stepson Scott Walls.

Visitation for Shirley will be Friday September 17, 2021, at Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home 524 Broadway St. in Vincennes, IN 47591 from 4:00 – 8:00pm. Burial will be private and at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Norton Healthcare Foundation, 234 E Gray St. Suite 450 Louisville, KY 40202. Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Shirley.
