Ruth Atherton Travis, 82, 1411 Rose Avenue, went to heaven to be with the Lord on February 13, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health Systems. Born in Daviess County, Ky. to the late Roy and Annie Pearl Atherton. She was retired Kings Dept.Store, member of Parrish Avenue Baptist Church for 42yrs., Parrish Avenue Church Clerk, volunteer Health Dept. Free Clinic, Parrish Avenue Never Too Old Club, and enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, spending time with family and friends. Preceded in death by her sister; Mary E. McKinney and brother Louis Atherton. Surviving are her sons; Louis Travis and his wife Cathy, Terry Travis, Scott Travis and his wife Selena all of Owensboro, grandchildren Stacy Travis Lawson, Savana Travis, Amy Travis Gore, four great grandchildren, brothers; James Atherton of Huntsville, Alabama, Larry H. Atherton of Lexington, Ky., Barbara Atherton McElwain of Georgetown, Ky., several nieces and nephews. Services are 1:00pm. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis Chapel, visitation from 2 to 8pm. Tuesday and 9 to 1pm. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Dr. Mitchell Donohue will officiate.

  1. Your Mother had many friends at the Family Y. I enjoyed her company and friendship as we aquacised.We shared many interesting books and family experiences. Know that she will be missed by us. A fine lady and friend is gone. My sympathy is with your family
