Joseph R. Mattingly, 74 of 705 Isaac Shelby Drive died on July 7, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Daviess County, Ky. to the late Barney M. and Eva Mae Wells Mattingly. He was retired from Green River Steel as a heater, was a US NAVY Veteran in World War II, a member of St. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church, he enjoyed music and playing his guitar with many different bands around Owensboro. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Daisy Murrell Mattingly who died in May 28, 1999, five brothers and two sisters. Surviving are his wife, Martha Mattingly, five sons, James Dale Mattingly of Wisconsin, David Hardesty of Owensboro, Ky. Steve Hardesty and his wife, Kathy of Owensboro, Joe Hardesty and his wife, Karen of Whitesville, Chris Hardesty and his wife, Cathy of Deland, Florida; four daughters, Constance Elam of San Antonio, Texas, Connie O'Bryan and her husband, Larry of Philpot, Ky., Kay O'Bryan and her husband, Carl of Philpot, Ky., Doris Hardesty of Owensboro,; twenty-two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; one brother, Albert Mattingly and his wife, Martha of Owensboro,; and many nieces and nephews. Services are at 11:00am. Monday at St. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church, visitation from 2 to 8pm. Sunday and 9 to 10:30pm. Monday. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Reverend Brian Roby will officiate.
