John Walker Staples 76 of Bowling Green died Saturday March 11, 2006 at the Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green. Mr. Staples was born in Barren county the son of the late John Thomas Staples and the late Martha Jane Goad Staples. He was a former Milkman and Farmer. He was very active with the Special Olympic children were he was known as 'Grandpa ' by many of the children and a member of the Glasgow Senior Citizenship Club. Mr. Staples was a member of Salem Baptist Church and later attended Lifeway Community Church in Bowling Green. Survivors include 4 daughters Margaret Staples, Nancy 'Sissy' England, Mary Jane Parker all of Bowling Green and Ann & husband Alan Maier of Louisville; 4 sons John ' Buck' Staples and wife Janet of Cave City, James ' Purdy' Staples and wife Pam of Cave City, Dean Staples & wife Mary of Bowling Green and Bobby England of Bowling Green; 12 Grandchildren Hanna Staples, Billy Joe Anderson, Ernie and wife Mary Staples, Steven & wife Amanda Parker, A.J. Maier, Josh Maier, Julie Robertson, Christa & husband Don Hess, Dana & husband Brian Wells, Jeremy Staples, Michael Sima and Taylor Sima; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; 1 brother Stanley Staples of IN. Several nieces and nephews; Several Special Olympic Grandkids and several significant other grandchildren; 1 special friend Lisa Johnson. In addition to his wife Nellie June Piper Staples and parents he is preceded in death by 6 sisters. Funeral services will be held 3:00pm Wednesday March 15, 2006 at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:00pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
