Jewell Botts Powell 83 of Glasgow, KY died Monday October 31, 2005 at his home. He was born in Barren County the son of the late William Hardin Powell and Magie Bridges Powell. Mr. Powell was a carpenter, farmer and a furniture maker. He was a member of the Dover Baptist Church at Haywood and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife Dorene Kingrey Powell; 1 daughter Barbara (Randy) Harper of Edmonton; 2 sons David (Jackie) Powell and Doug (Debbie) Powell both of Glasgow; 5 grandchildren Lori (Todd) Compton, Cheri (Thomas) Kosbiel, Chris Powell, Gary Powell, and Tony (Tiffany) Bragg; 6 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 brother Carl Powell of Glasgow and 2 sisters Mabel Jordan and Katherine Bellamy both of Glasgow. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers Wendell, Billy Joe and Earl Powell. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Thursday November 3, 2005 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00am Wednesday at the funeral home.

  1. Lori, I just read about the passing of your grandfather online (Glasgow Daily Times). I try to read the paper each day, it’s one of the things I do miss about Glasgow. I’m sorry for your loss and know that my heart and prayers are with you and your family
