Janice Sue Fares “Ma Fares”, 81, of Owensboro passed away Friday, July 2, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Evansville, IN on Apil 22, 1940 to the late Frederic and Vivian Masterson Hudson. Janice ran a daycare for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time and taking care of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her son Randall Fares; brothers Wayne Hudson and Fred Hudson.

Janice is survived by her husband of 62 years Geroge William Fares III; sons Don Fares, William (Cathy Manqueros) Fares and Jon (Lisa) Fares; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and her siblings Steve (Leann) Hudson, Bradford Hudson and Joann Hudson; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Sts. Joe and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Alexander Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Haley McGinnis Funeral home and Crematory and again Thursday from 9:00 am to 10:30 at the funeral home.

  5. Ma Jan Fares was a great woman! Ma was the most dependable daycare/babysitter on earth. She practically raised my two sons, Ben & Taylor from the time they were 6 weeks old until they went to 1st grade. She loved her diet drinks and Harlequin Romances. She loved her husband and 4 sons. I have told many people about how all of her sons could change diapers and feed or burp a baby like a pro! Awesome! She will be missed but very much remembered. Lots of Love, Mary

  6. Jan was a wonderful lady and she lit up the world. She always had funny stories to tell. She loved all babies, but her boys were her life. Rest in peace.

  11. Ma Fares was a second mother to our 2 kids. She always told the Moms, “I wouldn’t trade jobs with any I’d you girls for anything.” She loved her family and all our kids. She was like a part I’d our family. Rest in peace sweet Ma. A life well lived. 💕
