Herbert Lee Glass 94 of Glasgow died Friday, September 30, 2005 at the NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow. Born in Barren Co. he was the son of the late James Lewis Glass & Elmira Houchens Glass and husband of the late Ruth Reeves Glass. Mr. Glass was a member of the Peters Creek Missionary Baptist Church and a retired Mechanic and Farmer.
Survivors include 2 daughters Virginia Houchens of Austin and Barbara Williams & husband Roy of Austin; 1 son Jimmy Glass of Glasgow; 1 sister Christine Hurt & husband Harold of Indianapolis, IN; 1 brother J. D. Glass & wife Lillie of Austin; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife he is preceded in death by a daughter Clara Louise Williams, his step-mother Minnie Mills Glass, 2 sisters Anna Mae Dismon & Francis Norwood and a son-in-law Willie Dee Houchens.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Monday, October 3, 2005 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00am Sunday at the funeral home.
So sorry about Uncle Herbert’s passing. I’ll always remember him as a gentle giant. I have such fond childhood memories of him. My mother was so fortunate to have such loving brothers and sisters who untimately shaped each of us and helped us to grow into
