Elizabeth T. O'Brien, 87, of Owensboro died Monday, July 5, 2004, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Ill. She was born Nov. 14, 1916, in Daviess County to Shirley Robert Tucker and Bessie Bailey and retired from South Central Bell as a switch-board supervisor. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Telephone Pioneers, Mountainman Association and Wally Byam Air Stream Travel Club and was a Kentucky Colonel. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, hunting and camping. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas O'Brien, in 1988; and a son, James Rutigliano, in June 2003. Survivors include three granddaughters, Elizabeth Scott Rutigliano of Frankfort, Frances Jane Butler of Shelbyville and Anne Catherine Hose of Springfield; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services are at noon Saturday, July 10, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis and Owensboro Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Father John Meredith will officiate.
