Dwayne Hazelwood, 56, of Owensboro, Kentucky went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, August 30, 2021 at U of L hospital. He was born in Owensboro on December 9, 1964 to Louis Hazelwood and the late Mary Ann Hazelwood. Dwayne was a production manager and foreman for 28 years, taking great pride in his work for Southern Tank and Manufacturing. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed being out in nature and riding his side by side. Most of all, Dwayne loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his friends.

Along with his father, Dwayne is survived by his wife, Sherry Smith Hazelwood; his daughter, Jessica (Shay) Owens; his step-sons, Josh and Jordan Profitt; his granddaughter; Maddie Lee Owens; 7 additional grandchildren; and his brother, Dale Hazelwood.

Services will be 6:00 pm Friday, September 3, 2021 at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home.

  2. The Kennedy Tank/Southern Tank/STAFCO team and family continue to pray for Dwayne and his family. Dwayne was an unbelievable teammate to our businesses for 28 years. He was loved, respected and valued. We will miss his proactive nature and positive attitude every day. Dwayne made work “fun”. All of his great qualities will live on in all of us as we continue his legacy forward. We love and will miss him dearly. Gone too soon, but made an impact worth 100 years.

    I’m so sorry for your loss and praying for you all in the coming days ahead.
    Dwayne was my step brother his father Louis is my step Dad but I have known Dwayne for many years but welcomed him as my little brother in 2013. He was always a fun loving man and I will miss calling and texting him about being my little brother, he got such a kick out of that even though he was bigger in size than me, I am older by one year!   10. Sherry and family- I was deeply saddened to hear this news. I wasn’t a dear friend, I merely got to know Dwayne by making weekly deliveries of their uniforms to Southern Tank. He and I got along well, and I will truly miss him. I’m praying for you and your family.

  11. Dwayne became my stepson Nov. 23, 2013. I loved him very much and his dad and I will miss him terribly. It seems impossible that he is gone.
