Darrell Stephenson “Steve” Poynter, 68, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 at his home in Glasgow. Steve was born December 1, 1952 son of the late William Harry “Buddy” Poynter and Nina Mae “Louise” Fancher Poynter. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother William “Cowboy” Poynter.
Steve served in the United States Army and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. Steve retired from RR Donnelly’s in Glasgow.
He is survived by two sons. Gary S. Poynter of Horse Cave and Herbert Poynter of Knob Lick. A brother Richard (Melinda) Poynter of Horse Cave. Three sisters. Tammy Poynter of Savoyard, Brenda McReynolds of Rockfield and Patricia (Danny) Atwell of Hardyville. Five Grandchildren. Natalie, Hayley, Ethan, Destiny and Dillon Poynter. One great granddaughter Ella Marie Patterson. Several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive.
Funeral services for Steve Poynter will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Buck Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday and after 9:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
Butler Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to be entrust to the care of Mr. Poynter. Anyone wishing to attend the visitation or service in person will be required to wear a mask or other face covering to protect the health of others in attendance.
