Catherine Waltrude Coomes Higdon, 96 of Carmel Home, died on July 20, 2005 at Carmel Home. She was born in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late Joseph Coomes and Leona Millay Coomes. She was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Boniface Higdon in 1989; a son, John Higdon in 1981. Surviving are two sons; J.C. Higdon of Owensboro, Sylvester Higdon of Whitesville; seven daughters; Marine Baldwin of Wellsburg, WV., Ruth Ann Johnson of Nashville, Tn., Joetta Cooper of Owensboro, Laura Snider of El Paso, Tx., Lena Clements of Steubenville, Ohio, Jane Simpson of Franklin, Ky., Barbara Obermeier of Rockport, In.; 33 grandchildren; 65 great grandchildren; 1 half-brother; Tommy Coomes of Owensboro; 3 half-sisters; Bernadetta Howard of Owensboro, Teresa Oberitis of Medina, Ohio; Cecilia Farrell of Holland, Michigan. Services are at 10am. Friday at Immaculate Catholic Church, visitation at the Carmel Home from 10 to 11:30am. Thursday and visitation at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home from 4 to 8pm. Thursday and 8:30 to 9:30am. Friday. Prayers will be said at 5pm. Thursday. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Knottsville, Ky. Reverend Phil Riney will officiate. The family wish that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to; The Carmel Home, 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, Kentucky 42303.
