Brian Samuel “Sam” Downen, 22, of Monroe City, Indiana, passed away on Thursday November 11, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. Sam was born on November 24, 1998 to Brian Roy Downen and Kimberly Kay (Kerns) Downen in Vincennes, Indiana.

Sam was a 2017 graduate of South Knox High School. During his high school career, he was a talented basketball player. Sam was a key member of the 2017 South Knox Men’s Sectional Championship Team. After high school, he attended Vincennes University where he obtained his Associates Degree in Ag Business. He worked as a sales associate for Alliance Tractor in Vincennes. On October 9, 2021, Sam married the love of his life Alexus “Lexi” Pond.

Sam enjoyed going to chicken shows, and raising his chickens. He was a proud 4-H member and loved to farm. He loved being a dog dad to Booker and Millie. Most importantly, Sam enjoyed spending time with his wife Lexi and his family.

Surviving Sam is his wife Lexi (Pond) Downen, mother, Kim (Kerns) Downen, his sister, Kristen Elizabeth (Downen) Jones (Alex), his brothers, J.D. Hollis (Cody), Jeremy Hollis (Ashley), nieces, Brynn Jones and Jillian Hollis, and his nephew Paxton Hollis.

Sam was preceded in death by his father, Brian Downen.

Visitation for Sam will be held on Saturday November 20, 2021 at South Knox High School 6116 IN – 61, Vincennes, Indiana 47591 from 10:00 – 2:00pm. A funeral service will follow beginning at 2:00pm with Dr. Darrel Bobe officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made out to the Knox County Farm Fair, P.O. Box 242 Bicknell, Indiana 47512.
