Alice “Tootie” Gilpin, 83, of Austin, KY passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville, KY. A daughter of the late Nola and James Carver. Tootie was born on September 28, 1936. Tootie worked in sewing factories for 42 years and was a member of the Tracy Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking for her boys and those who visited. She loved spending time on her farm, checking the cattle and visiting with family and friends. We will miss her fun loving spirit!
She married the late Douglas Turner and is survived by three sons: Rickey Turner of Glasgow, Ronnie (Debbie) Turner of Glasgow, Terry (Wanda) Turner of Austin. Other survivors include: 3 brothers: Joe, Beatty and Donald Carver; 1 sister Mary Bell Parrish; 4 grandchildren: Brandon (Ashley) Turner, Alicia Turner, Ben (Victoria) Turner, Zack Turner; 2 sweet great grandchildren, Lily and Brooklynn Turner and several nieces and nephews. Tootie found 15 more wonderful years with her husband John Gilpin, who survives. Other survivors include 5 step-children: Cathy (Dru) Federspiel, Teresa (George) Morgan, Sherry (Jim) Ryan, Dale Gilpin, Charles “Chuck” Gilpin; 11 step-grandchildren: Todd Federspiel, Michael (Allison) Federspiel, Chris (Tammy) Morgan, Brad (Jennifer) Morgan, Tiffany (Shaun Scruggs) Held, Rachel Held, Nicole (Eric) Vanmeter, Brittany (Brad) Wellington, Jessica (Michael) Shaw, Shawn (Angie) Gilpin, Ashley Gilpin and many precious step-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Tootie was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Wilton, Earl, Alfred Carver, 4 sisters: Jeanetta Kingrey, Beatrice Chambers, Elva Rutherford, Mildred Carver.
Due to Covid-19 distancing regulations, A private viewing will be for immediate family only. A public graveside service will be at Happy Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 2pm Saturday, June 27, 2020. Brother Neil Jeffries will officiate.

Tootie you are so loved and will be missed. Some of my fondest memories were when you would come down for music on Saturday night. Your sweet voice and smiles and just the love you shown to everyone . My life is Blessed having known you. My prayers for your family.

I worked with tootie for many years at handmacher then at carhartt as her floor lady. She was the sweetest person and fun loving spirit She will be greatly missed

Tootsie was one of the kindness women Mike an I have every been around, so enjoyed seeing her outside in the Summer time . She sure will be missed in Austin but she a beautiful Angel now in arms of God. Loved this lady an her children an family, May God comforted you all in this hard time.
