Aaron “Michael” Aull, Jr., affectionally known as Bub, 15 of Owensboro, died Saturday, October 24, 2020. Born November 10, 2004 in Owensboro to Amanda Evans Bittel and Aaron Aull, Bub was a freshman at Owensboro High School. Growing up, Michael spent many days putting together bicycles with his late grandfather Pappy Hatfield. He loved the challenge of fixing things. Some would call the bikes he took on as “junk”. Bub saw it as opportunity. He enjoyed dumpster diving. You may find it silly, but Michael had an affinity for finding gems among the trash, which made it fun. If you haven’t noticed the theme yet, he appreciated little things. Whether it was playing Fortnite or fishing with family and friends, Michael admired the small stuff. He had a growing collection of fishing poles, much thanks to his father. He’d even come home to find a new one on the front porch from time to time.

If it wasn’t his idea, Michael didn’t want to do it and would let you know. He was outspoken and proud to be. His dream job was to work as a sandwich artist at Subway. Michael loved a good snack. His favorites were a big bag of Bold Chex Mix and a cold, delicious YooHoo to chase it down. A recent treat was realizing his mother had left two for him in the refrigerator.

In honor of Michael, play a round of Fortnite, listen to “I Can Only Imagine”, take a bike ride, snack on some Chex Mix, and ask someone how their day went. Because, you may have been fooled, but Michael was a softy and made sure to check on those he loved often, frequently asking his sister “how was your day”.

Michael is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Phillip Ray Hatfield in 2016.

Aside from his parents, he is survived by his sisters, Kirsten Evans and Kaylie Evans, and brother, Zayden; several aunts, uncles, cousins; maternal grandmother, Monica Evans (Michael); maternal grandfather, Robert Alvey; and paternal grandmother, Linda Blandford.

Funeral services for Michael will take place 11:00 am Thursday, October 29, 2020 in the Chapel of Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 2:00 to 6:00pm Wednesday, and from 9 until the time of the service, Thursday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory.

All who wish to honor and remember Michael in person at the visitation or funeral are required to wear a mask or face covering while inside the funeral home for the safety of all those in attendance.

    • My heart goes out to his parents and siblings. Loosing a child is an unbearable task. We lost Brianne in 2017 of cancer. My love and prayers to you. Lean on Jesus.

    • It seems like just yesterday, you and Ocean were headed off to preschool together. You juat started high school, your life was just beginning. Your smile lit up the room everytime you entered. You always had a huge smile and hug for me every time I saw you. My heart breaks knowing the world are no longer sith us. You will forever be missed.   84. I didn’t know this young man, but I felt his personality shine through in his obituary. He seemed like a kind person and an old soul. This is such a rarity in the world today.   92. I took my grandson to a pool this summer where I rarely go, but was lucky enough to meet “Bub”. He just struck up a conversation and he and I talked for quite a while; such a nice, polite young man. I even went home and told my son about him; I thought of him often. I was shocked and saddened when I heard what happened, what a loss. I too lost a son and know first hand the devastation. Just know he left a lasting impression with me and I’m sure with many. I’m so sorry.

    You will truly be missed. I am so “thankful” to the Lord that you accepted Jesus as your Savior. No matter what you went through in your little short life, your love and hugs showed. Every time we would pick up Isaac at school you would come out and hug us before you got on the bus. We will never forget you coming to visit us and play with Isaac too. We know to be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord. Sleep well our little brother until you awake to sleep no more.
